About Me

I am a writer. I do not write full-time. I do not earn a lot of money from writing. But, nonetheless, a writer I am.

I have been many things in my life thus far. I have been a full-time undergraduate, a part-time undergraduate, a college dropout, a professional fisherman, a full-time PhD student, a part-time lecturer, a writer of IT magazine articles, owner director of an Internet business, an employed software developer and an IT contractor. I dare say there will be much more to add to the list before I leave this Earth.

I like writing. No, I love writing. This is a strange thing to say for someone who has written as little as I have. But, when writing I am probably at my happiest. I would love to get to a situation where I was recognised first as a writer. Not as a programmer, an IT consultant or anything else. Just “writer”.

I said I have not written much. This is true to a certain extent. But, I have had some success in getting non-fiction articles published. I have also written a couple of short stories, none of which are published. None of which I have submitted for publishing either, though.

What do I write? Well, I have written non-fiction - very technical IT articles. And I earned a couple of grand doing so. But, I no longer see myself as a writer of IT articles for IT magazines. I am a fiction writer. I also have a dark mind. When I write, I am trying to tease out the very worst in human nature. If I was to pick a writer that has most influenced me, it would be Stephen King. That does not mean I like to write out and out horror, but I certainly like to have a nasty side to my writing, whether this turns out to be a genuine monster, or a serial killer, or just someone cold enough to think that killing is an acceptable way to make progress in life.

To conclude…. watch this space; there is much more to come.
