All of a sudden,
Hurtling from the deep jungle
Was a silverback.
Without any thought,
I wrote that lovely haiku
To amuse myself.
The glare on my screen
Makes it very hard to read
What I am writing.

Jimmy Cagney looms,
Tommy gun in hand, saying
“You doity rat!” - not!
It’s a fact that James Cagney never ever said “You dirty rat”. It’s the impressionists of Cagney who picked it up over the years. A bit like “Beam me up, Scotty”, which was never uttered by Captain Kirk.
